Detoxification programs are a popular fad these days, don’t you agree? And the way these programs explain this detox process, it makes us feel like we’ve contaminated our body with hazardous substances. However, that’s not really the case. We’re not talking about any drug detox or alcohol detox here. We’re just talking about the simple science behind the functioning of our body, the process by which our body gets rid of its waste. Our bodies talk to us (women surely do understand this, especially when they are chumming). Our bodies are capable of self-cleansing, but, when the toxins in our body build up to a level where it is beyond our body’s control, it needs our help.
We did some research to understand as to where these toxins come from in our body and how to look for them. We have listed some signs here that are our body’s way of signaling that it needs a detox.
What We Need To Know About Toxins
They are toxic, foreign substances that get inside our body. And if our immune system isn’t capable of removing them, they tend to accumulate and get stored inside our body. We don’t even get to know when it happens.
Where Do Toxins Emerge From:
Signs From The Body That Scream “Detox”
1. WEIGHT GAIN
You’ve been literally calorie-counting every spoon of food that you’re eating, you’re even exercising regularly, and yet, you see your weight scale going north. Take it as an indication of toxic overload. Most of the toxins are lipophilic in nature which means that they make your body produce more of the fat cells and store them inside it (1). Therefore you cannot really lose weight till you’ve detoxified your body.
2. Constant Fatigue
You are sleeping enough and still feel lethargic all day long? Then adrenal fatigue is the reason (2). Excess amounts of toxin can put a lot of stress on your adrenal glands which makes you feel tired despite getting proper rest.
3. Cognitive Impairment
We’re sure most of us have faced this, we do space out and sometimes it happens more than just once, agreed? Excess toxins in our body, such as monosodium glutamate (MSG) or aspartame, affect not just the brain, they also kill our brain cells and stop oxidation process in our brain (3). MSG is found in processed foods whereas aspartame is present in chewing gums, sugar-free beverages, etc.
4. Unaccountable Headaches
Consumption of foods that contain MSG, food coloring, heavy metals, preservatives, etc., give rise to toxins that affect our brain’s normal functionality. This leads to persistent headaches (4).
5. Irksome Body Odor
Accumulation of toxins in the body leads to bad breath, bad body odor, stools, and odorous flatulence. If you have eaten little and still feel bloated, or if you find yourself not hungry frequenly, all these are indications that your liver and colon are finding it difficult to flush the toxins out of your body (5).
6. Recurring Muscle Aches
If you are facing inexplicable pains in your muscles, then it’s a sign of high toxic load in your body. Apparently, toxins also have the ability to stimulate the various pain receptors present in our muscles. This is why we have unexplained muscle cramps, spasms or knots.
7. Reactions On Skin
When the liver fails to flush out the toxins from our body, the body tries to do liver’s work with the help of the skin. Acne, eczema, skin rashes, boils, etc., are all result of the skin trying to eject the toxins from the body.
8. Mood Swings
We all know that mood swings have to do with the hormonal imbalance in our bodies. Xenoestrogen is the toxin that causes this imbalance (6). To reduce the level of xenoestrogens in our bodies we need to avoid using anything to do with plastic in our kitchens.
If your body is showing any of the aforementioned signs, it’s an indication that your body is in need of detoxification. And this is not a complex procedure; all you need to do is eat right, eat healthily, and make sure your body is equipping itself with the necessary nutrients. Also, stay hydrated and exercise regularly. Did you find these hints and tips helpful? Let us know in the comments.
